From House to Development: Demolishing a Knoxville Home for New Condos
At Quality Demolition and Junk Removal LLC, we take pride in every project we undertake, whether it’s a small shed teardown or a full-scale residential demolition. One of our most memorable recent projects was the demolition of a 2,000-square-foot home with a basement in Knoxville, TN. The property was being cleared to make way for a modern condo development, and we were thrilled to be a part of the transformation.
Preparation is Key
Before we could begin the demolition, the property owner ensured all utilities were disconnected—a critical step in ensuring safety and compliance. Electrical, water, and gas lines were shut off and secured, creating a safe work environment for our crew and equipment.
Bringing in the Heavy Machinery
On day one, we brought in the John Deere 160G, a 39,526-pound powerhouse with 122 horsepower. This machine is designed to handle heavy-duty demolition tasks with precision and efficiency. Within just three hours, we had the entire house on the ground, reduced to a pile of debris.
We then used our Doosan DX140LCR-5 to load and break the house's slab and foundation apart. This machine's versatility and power made it the perfect choice for handling the tougher aspects of the job, ensuring the site was fully cleared and prepped for the next phase.
Splintering the Debris
After the structure was down, the real work began. We spent the next several hours "splintering the house," breaking the debris into smaller pieces. This meticulous process ensures that every dumpster is filled to its maximum capacity, saving time, resources, and space. By the end of the project, we had filled a total of seven dumpsters with wood, drywall, and other materials.

Strategic Recycling and Reuse
One unique aspect of this project was the handling of the concrete from the basement. Instead of hauling it away, we left the concrete in place. The basement will eventually be filled in to level the lot for the new development, a practical and cost-effective solution that reduces waste.
The Final Push
The entire process took four days from start to finish. Over two days, Noble Metals provided a dedicated dumpster driver to ensure a smooth workflow. Their reliable service made it possible to keep the project on track, allowing us to focus on the demolition and cleanup.
Looking Ahead
This project was a perfect example of how teamwork, planning, and the right equipment can turn a big challenge into a seamless operation. It’s exciting to know that this cleared lot will soon be home to modern condos, contributing to Knoxville’s growth and development.
At Quality Demolition and Junk Removal LLC, we’re not just tearing things down; we’re helping to build the future. If you have a demolition project in Knoxville or the surrounding area, we’re here to help make it happen.
